Today we're launching Synaxi, a small, free Mac app that makes your Claude requests lighter without changing a single thing about how you work.
If you use Claude every day, you've probably never thought about the shape of the requests leaving your machine. There's no reason you should have to. But underneath every conversation is a steady stream of waste: the same tool definitions sent on every turn, conversation history dragged along long after it stops mattering, whitespace and structural overhead the model never needed. It all gets tokenized, and it all adds up.
Synaxi sits quietly on your Mac and trims that waste from each request before it's sent. Same questions, same answers. Just lighter on the way out.
What it actually does
Synaxi runs locally as a background service. When you use Claude (in the desktop app, in Claude Code, in Cursor, or through your own API client), Synaxi intercepts each outgoing request, strips the parts the model doesn't need, and forwards the rest. The work happens entirely on your machine. Nothing routes through our servers, and we never see the contents of your prompts.
The goal was never to change what you do. It was to make what you already do cost less, without you having to think about it.
Why local matters
We made a deliberate choice early on: Synaxi does its work on your device, not in the cloud. That means no extra hop, no round-trip to a service in the middle, and no third party holding your conversations. The privacy story is simple because the architecture is simple. Your data stays with you.
Free to start
The Personal tier is free, forever, for individuals. It includes the full local request-trimming engine and a dashboard that shows you exactly what's being saved. If you're a power user or building on the API, the Professional tier adds deeper compression and routing. And for teams, an Enterprise Console is on the way.
This is just the start
We're building Synaxi in public. This blog is where we'll share what we learn about token efficiency, local-first tooling, and the work of shipping a product as a small team. No fluff, no growth-hacking. Just the work.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, download Synaxi for Mac and see what your requests look like when the waste is gone.
